Fastmail has clear, stable IMAP settings and works well with server-side archive tools like 0rd Mail Archive.
Prefer a Fastmail app password (Mail) so you are not storing your main Fastmail password in the archive connection.
What you need
- A Fastmail account with IMAP access (standard on Fastmail plans that include Mail)
- Access to Fastmail Settings → Password & Security (or Privacy & Security)
- A 0rd account at 0rd.eu/archive
1. Create a Fastmail app password
- Sign in to Fastmail in a browser.
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security (or Password & Security, depending on the UI).
- Under App passwords (or Third-party apps), create a new app password.
- Give it a label such as
0rd Archive. - Choose permissions that include Mail (IMAP). You do not need full account reset permissions for archiving.
- Copy the generated password.
2. Enter the mailbox in 0rd
- Sign in at 0rd.eu/archive and open Archive.
- Under Connect IMAP archive, enter:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| IMAP host | imap.fastmail.com |
| IMAP port | 993 |
| IMAP username | Your full Fastmail address (including custom domain addresses hosted at Fastmail) |
| IMAP password | The Fastmail app password |
- Choose Start archiving.
If something fails
- Authentication failed — Confirm you used an app password with Mail access, and the full email as username.
- Custom domain — Username is still the full address (for example
you@yourdomain.com); host remainsimap.fastmail.comwhen Fastmail hosts the domain.
Notes
- Fastmail documents IMAP on
imap.fastmail.com, port 993, SSL/TLS. - Revoke the app password in Fastmail settings if you disconnect the mailbox from 0rd.
